Questions
What counts as a character?
Every character of the text you turn into speech, spaces and punctuation included. Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters count as two, because each one carries a whole syllable.
How much audio do I get?
In English, about 900 characters make a minute of speech, so 300,000 characters is roughly five and a half hours. Other languages vary a little.
Do unused characters roll over?
No. A plan's characters refill every month, on yearly plans too, and unused ones do not carry over. Pack characters stay valid for 12 months from purchase.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. An upgrade applies straight away and you pay only the difference for the rest of the billing period. A downgrade starts at your next renewal, and you keep your current plan until then.
Can I use the audio commercially?
Any paid plan, or any character pack, includes the commercial licence. The Free plan is for personal, non-commercial use.
Do the Studio and the API share characters?
Yes. One balance covers both, so you can switch between them freely.
Can I get a refund?
Ask within 14 days of a charge. A subscription charge is refunded in full if fewer than 10% of that period's characters were used. The Refund Policy has the details.
